The Master in Law and Economics (MDE)

Diversified and wide-ranging expertise is becoming all the more crucial in today's business world. The new Master in Law & Economics offers students from both the Faculty of Law and Criminal Science and the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Lausanne the opportunity to acquire an interdisciplinary education focused on real business needs.

There is growing demand for professionals who demonstrate good legal knowledge and who fully understand financial and economic dimensions of business.
  • Legal advisers constantly face questions regarding accounting, finance, management, market regulations and organizational behavior.
  • Managers are confronted with the regulations that structure what can and cannot be done in business. These regulations deal notably with commercial law, antitrust, tax, securities regulations and labor law.
The new Master aims at combining these two sets of indispensable skills.

The program focuses on two distinct subject matters. Students must register in one of the two following tracks :
  • a track focused on business law and tax, entitled "Law, Management and Tax" abbreviated M-DGF - for more information on this subject, please visit www.hec.unil.ch/mdgf;

  • a track focused on law & economics and entitled "Law, Economics and Regulation" abbreviated M-DER - for more information on this subject, please visit www.hec.unil.ch/mder.
