Title : Pursuing Radical Innovation: Influential Elements on Corporate Venture Capital
Abstract :
Accounting variables represent the indicators, parameters and conditions of large established firms. These variables influence corporate venture investment. Established firms operate on a fast-paced environment that requires them to be constantly differentiating from competitors. Their internal research and development units engage efforts to cope with the dynamic environment; however, these efforts are often insufficient to generate the necessary innovations, differentiators, and growth platforms. In order to improve such situation, some companies create a corporate venturing capital unit which could harness strategic and financial benefits by investing on technology startups and facilitating the assimilation and exploitation of the novel technology. Corporate venturing involves the transfer of technology as well as commercial and financial competencies between startups and established firms. Through this research we study the influential factors on corporate venture capital between 1979 and 2008.
