1. What are the requirements for admissions?
The requirements for admissions to the Executive MBA HEC Lausanne | UNIL are as following:
- University degree - bachelor degree or recognised equivalent by UNIL such as a degree from a University of Applied Sciences (HES)
- Minimum of 7 years professional experience and evidence of career progression (for candidates holding master's and doctoral degrees this requirement is reduced)
- Business English level
- Two references from professional contacts
2. When is the application deadline for session 2012-2013?
Applications for the 2012 Intake are now open and we encourage candidates to apply early.
We have rolling application process, so you may apply throughout the whole year.
However, we have two application deadlines:
February 28th, 2012
April 30th, 2012
Be aware that the system "first come - first served" will be applied.
3. How long does the Executive MBA programme last?
The total length of the programme is 15 months and classes are held on Fridays and Saturdays every second week, with the exception of the 3 residences which last 5 consecutive days.
4. How long is a class-day?
Classes usually start at 8:30am and end at 5:30pm. However tutorial sessions are regularly organised in the evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm (participation is optional).
5. How are the classes evaluated?
Each Executive MBA module is assessed. The form of the assessment is set by the professor.
The assessment may include: group/individual presentations during the course; exercises; assignments...and an exam at the end of the module.
6. How many hours am I expected to work in a month for the programme?
On an average we expect students to work about 2 hours for 1 hour of class. Considering that there are 32h of class per month, participants need to work at home about 64 hours per month.
The amount of preparatory work required varies from class to class and may depend to some extent on a participant's academic background.
7. How many places are there each year in the programme?
The Executive MBA in Management & corporate Finance admits up to 30 students per year.
The Executive MBA in Healthcare Management admits up to 20 students per year. This number may vary from year to year.
8. Are the HES and ETS diplomas considered equivalent to the Bologna bachelor?
Candidates with diplomas from University of Applied Sciences (HES) and nostrified ETS diplomas are admitted, however each diploma must be evaluated by the University Registrar office. Please contact us on executivemba@unil.ch or 021 692 33 91 for more information.
If you are holder of an ETS diploma, you will need to nostrify it. Please contact the OFFT (Office Fédéral pour la Formation professionnelle et la Technologie) : (http://www.bbt.admin.ch/themen/hochschulen/00217/00227/index.html?lang=fr).
Beware that the process might take a few weeks, up to three months.
Candidates with HES or nostrified diplomas are advised to apply early.
9. How good must my English be?
Your English must be fluent. You should be able to express yourself easily in front of the class when presenting and able to understand complex issues. Proof of fluency may be requested and will be tested at the admissions interview.
10. Do I need to pass a GMAT exam?
Although the GMAT is not mandatory, potential participants are encouraged to take the test and a score above 550 will be considered an asset to a candidate's application. Please note that the new test code for HEC Lausanne is: VTR-GM-96
11. Do I need to have strong skills in quantitative subjects?
Executive MBA participants come from different academic backgrounds.
In order to harmonise the class level, we organise tutorials (e.g. Statistics or Accounting courses) for those who need it.
If you need to brush up your quantitative skills, we advise you to take a GMAT test.
12. How much does the Executive MBA programme cost?
1- The tuition fees (including all official courses, examination taxes & laboratory fees) are CHF 30'000.- for the session starting in September 2012. Extracurricular activities and classes are not included.
Price to be confirmed by the competent authorities.
2- The fees for the study tour abroad - which will take place in summer 2013 - are CHF 4'500.- * (price subject to change).These fees include teachings, company visits, lunches and lodging.
3- The application fees for candidates who do not hold a Swiss university degree : CHF 200.-
4- The books are not included in the tuition fees, they are estimated around CHF 2'000.- for the whole programme duration
