This SNF-funded project aims at designing and implementing a collaborative content management engine for peer-to-peer communities, such as the bioinformatics community, whose enormous volume of data makes it impossible to store everything in one single place and for which fast data access often supersedes data consistency. This project is a joint effort between Université de Lausanne and Università della Svizzera Italiana. (More details)

  • JInteract
This ongoing internal project aims at building programming abstractions that facilitate the design & implementation of distributed applications that require various kinds of remote interactions, e.g., client/server, peer-to-peer, transaction-based, etc. (More details)

  • Pervaho
This SNF-funded project aims at devising adaptable protocol-oriented abstractions for building emerging distributed systems, i.e., systems that have to cope with extreme mobility and ubiquity requirements, and with network eccentric communication models. (More details)

Prior Seminal Projects

  • Bast
This project resulted in a framework facilitating the design of flexible distributed software, with a strong emphasis on reliability, by promoting protocols as basic structuring abstractions. The Bast project was carried out at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) between 1996 and 1998. (More details)

  • GARF
This project resulted in a complete environment that automatically transformed a centralized application into a distributed and fault-tolerant one, using a reflective architecture. The GARF project was carried out at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) between 1993 and 1996. (More details)
